Hey everyone! I hope and pray that you have all had a restful Spring Break and a Blessed Easter.
A few reminders/notes:
The absolute last day for you to use the remainder of your funding for this year is May 15. You don’t have to use all of it, the funds are absorbed back into our school and go towards the extra programs and subscriptions that you enjoy.
The form for Internet reimbursement should be released in May.
Convention is quickly approaching. April 29th & 30th, 2016 – mark your calendars and get yourself registered. If you wish to set up a time to get together with me, we can meet in the hospitality room. We can set up something before convention or you can message or text me during the event – (250) 503-6512.
I am in the process of gathering ideas that will line up with the new BC Ed plan (which I am excited about!). I have started with science. You can find these ideas in the science page of my site under Learning Activities. Please be sure to discuss next year’s plans with me before making purchases for next year! There are many products out there that won’t fit well into the new plan…and I just might be able to convince you to not purchase those packaged curricula like PACES, Horizons and Lifepacs or grammar and spelling resources. We can find a better way to teach these ideas:) And, honestly, I get a better idea of your child’s progress in grammar and spelling in their actual writing.
Coding will be a part of the new BC Ed plan. Our school has bought a subscription to a gaming course for kids called Tynker.
The link to sign up for Tynker is https://fluidsurveys.com/s/tynker1516-registration/ . There is no cost for this subscription. The site states it is geared for advanced K students through Grade 8. Emily and Matt started their course and they say it is a lot of fun. NOTE: The BC Ministry is saying for grade 6-9 Coding will be a mandatory course, so with Tynker you will be on track for meeting the new standards!
I think that is it for now. Enjoy the beautiful sunny weather!
